Matt Douglas grew up bleeding maroon with a dream to play football at Texas A&M University. Inspired by his father and uncles, all proud Aggie graduates, Matt began attending games as young as he can remember, including the unforgettable Cotton Bowl victory over Notre Dame. That early exposure to Aggie football fueled a lifelong passion that led him from White Oak High School in east Texas to College Station, Texas.

At White Oak, Matt was a standout 4 sport athlete, excelling as a wide receiver and most notably, a placekicker. His precision earned him 2x All-State honors and recognition as a Prep Squad All-American. Recruited to A&M as a kicker, Matt’s blazing 4.27 40-yard dash times (one of the fastest ever recorded at the university) earned him a move to defensive back, where he eventually became a letterman and played in every game after recovering from an early-season injury.

Matt’s collegiate career was marked by grit and achievement. He was named Special Teams Player of the Week on October 19, 2002, for his performance against the University of Kansas, and earned Academic All-Big 12 honors for his dedication off the field.

Today, Matt remains deeply connected to the Texas A&M athletics community, frequently guest lecturing and mentoring student-athletes. His journey from childhood fan to Aggie football player is a testament to tradition, perseverance, and the power of dreaming big.
